The Resurgam Community Development Trust has been selected as a recipient for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2018. This was a tremendous achievement for Resurgam who are an umbrella group for thirty community-based groups and six social enterprises. Resurgam is supported by 500 volunteers throughout its structures, from management committees to volunteer positions.
As part of the celebrations and in recognition of this award our Trust Director Adrian Bird and his wife Alison attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 5th June. Adrian said “I am absolutely delighted to represent the Resurgam Trust at Buckingham Palace for the Royal Garden Party. Being granted The Queens Award for Voluntary Service is an honour and has given our 500 volunteers a huge boost and recognition for the valuable work they conduct. Volunteering within a community context can at times be difficult but it can also be very rewarding, I commend all of our Volunteers for their hard work and commitment and am delighted that the Resurgam Trust has been granted this award.”
The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service represents a tremendous achievement for our organisation and recognises the outstanding contributions made throughout our communities by groups of volunteers. Chair of Resurgam, Philip Dean, stated “Organisations like ours cannot function at the level we do without the support and sacrifice of our volunteers at each and every level. This award is recognition of the key role they play throughout the organisation and the wider community. Their role and importance to the work we do cannot be underestimated”
“I would like to congratulate The Resurgam Trust on receiving the Queen’s Award for Volunteering. Having worked closely with the Trust over many years, I have seen at first hand the excellent results of the voluntary activities undertaken by the Trust and the positive impact across the local community. This has involved people of all ages in giving freely of their time and commitment to help others and to deliver change that makes life better for so many. This award has been well earned and I am delighted for the Trust and all those associated with its voluntary work”
